Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Chez ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Chez mobile application and related services (the "Service").

Information we collect

When you use Chez, we collect the following information:

• Account information: name, email address, phone number, and any other information you provide when creating an account.
• Household information: property addresses, family member details, vendor and contact information, documents, photos, and other content you add to your household.
• Service usage data: how you interact with the app, features used, and aggregate analytics that help us improve the product.
• Communications: when you use Chez's coordination features (in-app messaging, email forwarding, or SMS where available), we collect and store the content of messages exchanged between you, your service vendors, and the Chez system.
• Device information: technical information about the device and operating system you use to access Chez.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Chez Service
• Process and route communications between you, your family members, and your service vendors
• Send you notifications about your household, scheduled services, and account activity
• Generate AI-powered insights and recommendations specific to your household
• Respond to your support requests
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

SMS communications

If you enable SMS coordination features (where available), Chez uses your provided phone number and the phone numbers of vendors you add to facilitate two-way text message communication. Information collected from SMS communications, including phone numbers, message content, and consent records, is used solely to provide the requested service.

You may opt out of SMS communications at any time by texting STOP to the Chez number. You may text HELP for assistance.

Information sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: with vendors and partners who help us operate the Service (such as cloud hosting, AI processing, and SMS delivery), bound by confidentiality obligations.
• Legal compliance: when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Chez, our users, or others.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to affected users.
• With your consent: when you explicitly authorize sharing for a specific purpose.

Role-based document access

Chez supports a Home Manager role for property staff. When you invite someone as a Home Manager, that account can manage tasks, systems, contractors, and vehicles on your behalf, but cannot view documents in restricted categories (estate, financial, medical, legal) unless you explicitly grant access on a per-document basis. This restriction is enforced at the database layer through row-level security policies, not just the user interface.

Data security

We use industry-standard security measures including AES-256-GCM encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit, biometric authentication options, and access controls to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work continuously to protect your data. Read more on our Security page.

Your choices

You can:

• Access, update, or delete your account information at any time through the Chez app
• Export your household data
• Delete your account, which removes your data from our active systems within 30 days
• Opt out of SMS communications by texting STOP to the Chez number
• Opt out of non-essential email communications via the unsubscribe link in our emails

Children's privacy

Chez is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Family member records you create for children in your household are scoped entirely to your household and are not used to create separate accounts for those children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the app or via email.
